Allahyarham Dato’ Meor Abdul Rahamn menurunkan pelajaran Silat Seni Gayong bersekali dengan adat istiadat yang berkaitan. Kedua-dua unsur ini membentuk pula adab dan akhirnya melahirkan rupa bentuk jati diri manusia yang diidamkan oleh masyarakat Melayu khususnya dan insan yang menyumbang kepada kemakmuran bumi ini amnya. Pada hari ini didapati ramai dalam kalangan gurulatih Silat Seni Gayong tidak memahami kehendak ini, dan terdapat kejadian perkara adat istiadat dan adab tidak dilaksanakan dan dijaga dengan teliti. Ini mengakibatkan berlakunya hakisan nilai-nilai yang diterapkan melalui acara dan aktiviti yang dianjurkan, dan dalam masa yang sama berlaku juga nilai-nilai yang didokong oleh acara dan aktiviti tidak kesampaian kepada pesilat-pesilat. Antara nilai penting yang terhakis atau tidak tersentuh dijiwa pesilat ialah semangat setia kawan, patuh kepada arahan, disiplin, menghormati guru, semangat kerjasama, bersungguh dalam segala perbuatan dan bertanggungjawab kepada amanah yang diberi. Acara adat istiadat yang lazimnya dianjurkan dalam kegiatan Silat Seni Gayong ialah Perlimau Tapak/Seni, pemakaian pakaian (latihan dan rasmi), Khatam Keris, Khatam Lembing, penyampaian Sandang, bergelanggang (adat membuka/ menutup latihan di gelanggang), mengambil tapak, dan angkat hormat guru/pemimpin. Kesemua aktiviti ini mempunyai kaedah dan caranya disamping ada diantaranya melibatkan perkara cara gaya pakaian, warna kain, alat dan perkakasan, tutur kata, bacaan doa dan surah-surah pilihan Al Quran, dan lafaz akad dan ikrar. Setiap perlakuan serta alat/bahan yang digunakan mempunyai sebab dan musababnya yang harus difahami oleh bukan sahaja gurulatih bahkan juga pesilat-pesilat. Penghayatan kepada acara adat istiadat akan melakarkan rupa bentuk pengamal Silat Seni Gayong jika para gurulatih melaksanakannya dengan berterusan, teratur dan bertanggungjawab. Lembaga Beradat Kebangsaan menyeru agar penyampaian ilmu Silat Seni Gayong bukan semata-mata pelajaran silat sahaja tetapi harus disokong dengan aktiviti adat istiadat yang berkaitan. Setiap pelajaran silat dan acara adat istiadat perlu disampaikan dengan kupasan falsafah dan matlamatnya bersesuaian pada peringkat kematangan pesilat. Dalam hal ini, para gurulatih mesti bersedia untuk mengikuti sesi-sesi bimbingan (bengkel/kursus/seminar) dalam bidang yang dinyatakan bagi meningkatkan ilmu dan kefahaman. Tanggungjawab gurulatih bukan semata-mata mengajar silat tetapi juga mendidik dan membimbing jati diri pesilatnya. Dikabarkan Ketua Pembina Perguruan Pencak Silat (PPS) Perguruan Silat Beksi Merah (Red Beksi), H Basyir Bustomi meninghal dunia, Kamis (13/7/2023). Kabar meninggalnya Haji Basir Bustomi disampaikan Katababa melalui akun instagramnya @katababa. “Innalillahi wainnailaihi rojiun. Berita duka jawara betawi Telah pulang kerahmatullah. Baba wan haji @basirbustomi bin h bustomi khodim perguruan silat red beksi,” ujarnya. H Basyir Bustomi merupakan putra Betawi asli. Sang ibu bernama Hajah Fatimah Binti KH. Satiri asal Kebayoran dan ayah bernama Haji Bustomi Bin Haji Khosin. Dirinya aktif menggeluti pencak silat tersebut sejak duduk di bangku SMA tahun 1985. Ia memiliki 3 orang anak, namun diantara ketiga anaknya, hanya anak yang kedua yang mengikuti jejaknya menggeluti dunia persilatan. Selain aktif di perguruan H. Basyir juga aktif di Lembaga Kebudayaan Betawi (LKB), Perkumpulan Perguruan-Perguruan atau Paguyuban Betawi. Dirinya berharap, Pemprov DKI Jakarta bisa memberikan perhatian lebih terhadap pelestarian budaya Betawi seperti Pencak Silat ini. Harapan itu bisa dilakukan dengan menjadikan Beksi sebagai bagian kegiatan ekstra kurikuler di sekolah-sekolah.
